The last assignment towards my Masters Degree in Cabinetmaking (Meisterbrief) in Germany was to design, lay out, construct and finish a representative piece of furniture. Doing so, I tried to tap both the beauty and resources of my trade, incorporating curves as well as angles, elegance as well as utilitarian function in this large Bauernschrank (armoire). The piece measures seven feet at the center crown and is crafted in white oak, one of my favorite woods.
